Pauls Visit

Halloween Pictures

Happy Halloween and a visitor

So I'm not gonna ramble on and on I'll try to keep the post short and simple and more often from now on. Key word try. after my last post Halloween sneaked up on us and was right around the corner. We had our new friends that were having a Halloween party and we needed to find something to wear. After a couple hours of shopping the weekend before Halloween and feeling like we tried on a bazillion costumes( I think it was like 5 totally but it felt like a lot) we found ones that we liked. Mike and I were a Bavarian couple and ended up being a big hit. We also got together the week of Halloween with everyone to carve pumpkins. The Halloween party came and went and ended up being a good time minus the kid that threw up in the living room..ewwww. Then November 11 Mike's dad came to visit. It was nice to see a face from home. He took us out to dinner ALOT and we took him to the Louisiana Boardwalk to gamble alittle and walk around. Before we new it it was already Sunday and time for him to leave. We took him to the local airport and it was the smallest air port ever. We were even able to see him walk onto the plane. Crazy

Over Due Update

So I guess I haven't updated this in a super long time...oops. So lets see since I last posted I got a job!!! YAY! August 10-14 I was working as a temp at Senior Respiratory Solutions which is a mail order pharmacy just up the road from our apartment. My last day there as a temp they offered me a full time position working in their documentation department. It's 40 hrs a week plus benefits. The pay isn't great but at least I have a paycheck. They had me take a week off before starting work which was nice. I was able to just relax for a week before having to become what I call a real adult in the working world. August 21 Mike's friend from school stopped by for the night which was good for Mike to be able to have a friend from home to hangout with. If only my friends could stop by and visit. Someday hopefully. Then Saturday August 22 we went canoeing with some friends from Mike's work. It was really nice to get to hangout with a group of people our age and get out and do something I have never done before. It was really fun but super exhausting. I officially started my job that Monday the 24th. Unfortunately since then nothing very exciting has happened. I finally got my official Texas license. I miss my New York one. Why do license pictures always suck? Oh well I guess. Mike also brought home from work a stick bug that he thought was going to be his pet. However after I convinced him that we were not going to keep a bug as a pet Mike thought he would put his little bug friend on his plant on the porch. OOPS.. aparently the plant is a poison plant and the next morning the stick bug was laying on the porch on his back. The weather here is finally changing. Well sorta. This past weekend we had our first day that actually smelled like fall. It was so nice we were able turn the air off and sleep with the windows open. Not quite like home but it was still nice. It's starting to rain here alot more than I would like but I guess it could be worse. Well there really isnt anthing else new to talk about right now plus I have to go to bed now that I am a working girl. No more staying up till the wee houirs of the night. Darn! Well night y'all!

Little Update

Hello everyone!!!! So it has been awhile since I have updated so I thought I would share a little of what has been going on. On August 3 I applied to a staffing agency in a desperate attempt to get a job. Of course just my luck on my way there a stone hit the windshield and cracked it. Just what I needed before going to look for a job right? Thought about getting it fixed but of course that will cost us $250 so we decided to wait. Pain in my butt! Later that Thursday Mike and I had the chance to get out of the house and hangout with one of the guys he works with and his family. Very very nice people. They really have taken us in and made it easier for us here. Then that Friday I got a call at 8 asking if I could come do a temp job stuffing envelopes in an office for $8/hr for Friday and Monday. Of course I said yes. Finally a chance to make some money!!!! Well the two day job turned into a 6 day job which was great and now I am proud to say I am officially employed with them (no not as their permanent envelope stuffer either!) I get this week of before I start. I am so excited yet very very nervous at the same time. But I know it will all work out well. Mike and I have also been house hunting on the weekends. Not serious house hunting but just for fun to see what there is around here. While on one of our house looking days we found this house that had burned down and all that was standing was these two fire places. It was very very sad to see but at the same time was really cool looking. Of course Mike and I had to get out and take pictures. Then this Thursday we went bowling with the intern from Hercules for his last night here. When we came back home and were hanging out on the porch we had a tiny wood slave gecko. It was so cute. And I was so proud of Mike he actually held it. I tried to get it in the picture of it crawling on his am but it was so small that you cant really see it. Then in an attempt to let me hold it Mike tried to pick it up by its tail and pulled it off. Poor gecko. He ran away after that and I never had the chance to hold the little guy. So thats about it for now nothing else to report. Until next time night night

Another Year Older

Another birthday has come and gone. It's weird how the older you get the less exciting your birthday becomes. Not to say I had a bad birthday because I didn't. It was very nice Mike and I went to Chilis for dinner with a couple from his work and he bought me my favorite Red Velvet cake. I spent most of the day talking on the phone with people who called to wish me a happy birthday which made me happy. Very grateful to have good friends and family. So all in all it was a good day. That friday Mike and I went to hangout with a group of people our age from his work which was nice. Not the same as being with my friends but maybe someday it will be. Either way it was nice to hangout with people our age . Then we went and looked at some houses on Sunday. Not serious looking but it's still fun. I didnt see aything that I really liked but Mike was pretty pleased with one of the houses. Today I went for a sub position at the Texarkana Arkansa School District. Not sure if it will work out but we will see. Just hoping for a job somewhere anywhere at this point. The weather is also crazy here this week it went from 90s down to 73 today and rainy. Although I know we need the rain I wish it would just do it at night. I dont mind the 73 though. Thats nice. Well nothing else to report right now off to bed for me.

No longer a NY driver

Hello!! So its official I am no longer a NY driver. Last week we went and got our TX plates and I got my TX drivers license well sorta anyways. Could be 60 days before I actually get the real one. So in the mean time I have to carry around two pieces of paper one being my temporary TX license the other a photocopy of my NY one that they took from me. It was very hard to give that away. Kinda sad really especially since I didn't mind the picture on the NY one. Who knows what this new one will look like since they don't let you see it. Wont that be a nice surprise. Other than that nothing super new. This past weekend we went to a near by lake to check it out. Unfortunately it will not be anything you will see me and Mike swimming in. We also stopped at the dam were I saw the most fish I have ever seen in my life. Mike wants to go fishing there very very badly. I however wasn't as thrilled. It was sooooo smelly and there were flies everywhere. I will not be going back. Sorry Mikey. After we decided to go check out some of the new houses they are building in our area. We even got to go in one and check it out. Always a bad idea. Makes you want a new house very very bad. Someday hopefully we will have one. No rush though. The weather has cooled off alittle bit which is nice. Today its only 85 out which is a nice change. It's funny because it doesnt feel hot at all. I guess once you get use to it being in the high 90s anything in the 80s feels comfortable. Well thats all for now.
