Over Due Update

So I guess I haven't updated this in a super long time...oops. So lets see since I last posted I got a job!!! YAY! August 10-14 I was working as a temp at Senior Respiratory Solutions which is a mail order pharmacy just up the road from our apartment. My last day there as a temp they offered me a full time position working in their documentation department. It's 40 hrs a week plus benefits. The pay isn't great but at least I have a paycheck. They had me take a week off before starting work which was nice. I was able to just relax for a week before having to become what I call a real adult in the working world. August 21 Mike's friend from school stopped by for the night which was good for Mike to be able to have a friend from home to hangout with. If only my friends could stop by and visit. Someday hopefully. Then Saturday August 22 we went canoeing with some friends from Mike's work. It was really nice to get to hangout with a group of people our age and get out and do something I have never done before. It was really fun but super exhausting. I officially started my job that Monday the 24th. Unfortunately since then nothing very exciting has happened. I finally got my official Texas license. I miss my New York one. Why do license pictures always suck? Oh well I guess. Mike also brought home from work a stick bug that he thought was going to be his pet. However after I convinced him that we were not going to keep a bug as a pet Mike thought he would put his little bug friend on his plant on the porch. OOPS.. aparently the plant is a poison plant and the next morning the stick bug was laying on the porch on his back. The weather here is finally changing. Well sorta. This past weekend we had our first day that actually smelled like fall. It was so nice we were able turn the air off and sleep with the windows open. Not quite like home but it was still nice. It's starting to rain here alot more than I would like but I guess it could be worse. Well there really isnt anthing else new to talk about right now plus I have to go to bed now that I am a working girl. No more staying up till the wee houirs of the night. Darn! Well night y'all!

Little Update

Hello everyone!!!! So it has been awhile since I have updated so I thought I would share a little of what has been going on. On August 3 I applied to a staffing agency in a desperate attempt to get a job. Of course just my luck on my way there a stone hit the windshield and cracked it. Just what I needed before going to look for a job right? Thought about getting it fixed but of course that will cost us $250 so we decided to wait. Pain in my butt! Later that Thursday Mike and I had the chance to get out of the house and hangout with one of the guys he works with and his family. Very very nice people. They really have taken us in and made it easier for us here. Then that Friday I got a call at 8 asking if I could come do a temp job stuffing envelopes in an office for $8/hr for Friday and Monday. Of course I said yes. Finally a chance to make some money!!!! Well the two day job turned into a 6 day job which was great and now I am proud to say I am officially employed with them (no not as their permanent envelope stuffer either!) I get this week of before I start. I am so excited yet very very nervous at the same time. But I know it will all work out well. Mike and I have also been house hunting on the weekends. Not serious house hunting but just for fun to see what there is around here. While on one of our house looking days we found this house that had burned down and all that was standing was these two fire places. It was very very sad to see but at the same time was really cool looking. Of course Mike and I had to get out and take pictures. Then this Thursday we went bowling with the intern from Hercules for his last night here. When we came back home and were hanging out on the porch we had a tiny wood slave gecko. It was so cute. And I was so proud of Mike he actually held it. I tried to get it in the picture of it crawling on his am but it was so small that you cant really see it. Then in an attempt to let me hold it Mike tried to pick it up by its tail and pulled it off. Poor gecko. He ran away after that and I never had the chance to hold the little guy. So thats about it for now nothing else to report. Until next time night night

Another Year Older

Another birthday has come and gone. It's weird how the older you get the less exciting your birthday becomes. Not to say I had a bad birthday because I didn't. It was very nice Mike and I went to Chilis for dinner with a couple from his work and he bought me my favorite Red Velvet cake. I spent most of the day talking on the phone with people who called to wish me a happy birthday which made me happy. Very grateful to have good friends and family. So all in all it was a good day. That friday Mike and I went to hangout with a group of people our age from his work which was nice. Not the same as being with my friends but maybe someday it will be. Either way it was nice to hangout with people our age . Then we went and looked at some houses on Sunday. Not serious looking but it's still fun. I didnt see aything that I really liked but Mike was pretty pleased with one of the houses. Today I went for a sub position at the Texarkana Arkansa School District. Not sure if it will work out but we will see. Just hoping for a job somewhere anywhere at this point. The weather is also crazy here this week it went from 90s down to 73 today and rainy. Although I know we need the rain I wish it would just do it at night. I dont mind the 73 though. Thats nice. Well nothing else to report right now off to bed for me.

No longer a NY driver

Hello!! So its official I am no longer a NY driver. Last week we went and got our TX plates and I got my TX drivers license well sorta anyways. Could be 60 days before I actually get the real one. So in the mean time I have to carry around two pieces of paper one being my temporary TX license the other a photocopy of my NY one that they took from me. It was very hard to give that away. Kinda sad really especially since I didn't mind the picture on the NY one. Who knows what this new one will look like since they don't let you see it. Wont that be a nice surprise. Other than that nothing super new. This past weekend we went to a near by lake to check it out. Unfortunately it will not be anything you will see me and Mike swimming in. We also stopped at the dam were I saw the most fish I have ever seen in my life. Mike wants to go fishing there very very badly. I however wasn't as thrilled. It was sooooo smelly and there were flies everywhere. I will not be going back. Sorry Mikey. After we decided to go check out some of the new houses they are building in our area. We even got to go in one and check it out. Always a bad idea. Makes you want a new house very very bad. Someday hopefully we will have one. No rush though. The weather has cooled off alittle bit which is nice. Today its only 85 out which is a nice change. It's funny because it doesnt feel hot at all. I guess once you get use to it being in the high 90s anything in the 80s feels comfortable. Well thats all for now.

Another HOT week

Hello! I thought I would post a quick update of how things are going in good old Texarkana. Nothing super exciting going on here. The weather has been crazy hot lately and everyone keeps reminding us that it's only gonna get hotter. Today topped out at 102 degrees and that was without the heat index. CRAZY!!! It seems like everyday we have a heat advisory. I guess it's just something I'll have to get use to. I just feel bad for poor Michael working at the mill where its twice as hot. Mike got to go out with a group of people from work friday and had a great time however made sure to mention that it was nowhere near as fun as hanging out with his friends from school. My dad also had his surgury on friday to have all his toes removed on his right foot. He seems to be doing well but is in quite a bit of pain still. Looks like he wont be going home till almost August. We also finally got the SAAB registered for the state of Texas. Now we fit in and no one will be able to say those damn yankees. Shockingly our Texas plates look very similar to the New York ones. Tomorrow I go to get my license. Hoping my picture comes out ok and that they wont take my NY license from me even though I am pretty sure they are going to :( I have started applying for jobs and am hoping it wont be long before I actually get one. Well that's all for now hopefully will have something more exciting to say soon. Night y'all

A few more wedding pictures

So everyone keeps asking to see more wedding pictures. I'm not going to post a lot of them because well there is just way to many for one and I am not as proud of them as I would like to be. I am disappointed in my work that I did. I am now going through them again to see if there are any that I missed. Nothing else really that's new. We are almost done switching the car over to no longer be a New York car :( I am hoping tomorrow to officially start the job search. It is not looking like there is to much out there right now. Hopefully I'll get lucky though. I am sick of not having any money, but aren't we all. So other than that nothing happening here in good old Texarkana. Maybe this weekend we will do something fun and I'll have something to report on Monday.

Cars and Grills

Finally after a long awaited time Mikes company car came on Monday!!!!!! Now all that's left is the is the long pain in the butt process of switching our cars and everything over to Texas. Hopefully tomorrow I will get most of it taken care of while Mikes at work. Also Mike finally picked out a grill this weekend!!! Thanks to his aunt and uncle who gave him money towards one he was able to get one he really liked and will definitely get a lot of use out of. Now all that's left is getting me a job. I'm hoping I get lucky and find one ASAP. Lets keep our fingers crossed for that one. I finally finished the wedding pictures! Only took me a month and a half almost. Not super pleased with them and think I could have done better but lesson learned I guess. It's a start. I just wish I had something better to give them then what I have. Oh well though. My Dad is doing well I hear however Friday he goes in for another surgery to have all his toes on his right foot removed. A bit of a bummer but I guess we should be thank full it isn't anything worse. wont be more than another week after that he should be flying home. Now that will be interesting considering he has never flown and now he will be doing it alone. Well that's all for now got to go check on Mikes banana bread. Hope it comes out ok.

Downtown and the Boardwalk

Just a quick update. Finally getting out of the house a little bit. YAY!!! Thursday night Mike and I went downtown with the intern from his work to a Mexican restaurant and then a local bar. Shocking to me I didnt mind the bar that much. They had a live ban that was actually pretty good. Nothing like the bars in Syracuse. Today we went to Shreveport Louisiana to get Mikes car from the shop and on our way home we stopped at the Louisiana Boardwalk which was interesting. Unfortunatly it was extremely hot. 100 degrees to be exact. Well I'd say more but after walking around in the heat all day I'm super tired. Night y'all

Summer Fun

So it's been almost a week since I last posted anything. Nothing new with me personally however as everyone knows by now my Dad had a bit of an accident. He seems to be doing as good as he can and I am hoping he'll continue to recover as quickly as he seems to be. He did lose his pinky finger but for right now that seems to be the worst of it. His foot is in pretty bad shape but seems to be doing okay . Hoping it continues to do better. Other than that unfortunate incident Michael and I were able to get out of the house twice this week and mingle with other people besides each other which was nice. On Tuesday we went to a bbq at a guy from Mike's work house. Very nice people. I got along with his wife really well which was good. Nice to have a women to talk to. Mike road a 4 wheeler for the first time and I must say I regret not going and gettig my camera because it was hilarious to watch. We hung out with them again thursdy night. They took us out to dinner at Texas Road House and then Mike went with John to a local bar while I hung out with his wife Cindy and went shopping. It was really nice to get out twice this week because I am really starting to get sick of sitting here all day alone. I want a job bad. Hopefully one will come my way soon. Lets keep our fingers crossed. It has also been unbelievably hot here this week reaching 100 a couple times. We have been going to our pool however it hasnt been very refreshing becuase the water feels like you are getting in a hot tub. I guess at least we have a pool though. Well thats all for now I am off to bed so I can try to get up early for Mike so he'snot to bored. Night Night

Fathers Day and a few apartment pictures

Hello!!! So today was fathers day and how lucky for us that my dad was able to stop in for a visit today. Although it was a short one it was nice because we were able to take him to his favorite place.... Applebees. So that was a nice visit. I also took a few new pictures of our apartment. Nothing very exciting because we still dont have anything on the walls or all the furniture I want but it's at least picked up in these. Nothing else new though tomorrow I will continue to work on and finish Laura's picture and continue the job search. Well thats all for now. Nighty Night

Almost ONE whole month

So I can't believe it, we left New York 25 days ago. CRAZY!!! Time has really gone by fast since we have been down here. Nothing very new and exciting unfortunately to post. Mike is still waiting for his company car so I can get out of the house. I have been looking for jobs but not really having any luck yet. Hopefully soon. I need something to keep me busy and put money in my pocket so I can buy things to finish our apartment. I know everyone wants new pictures posted of it so hopefully this weekend I will take some. Not a lot has changed sadly since the last ones I put up. I have been slowly working on Laura's picture. Yes I am still working on them. I finally got some color this week as well by hanging by the pool for 45 min every morning. Gonna miss that once I have to start working. I feel bad that Mike hasn't gotten to enjoy it much however his poor little white skin would probably be fried so it is probably better he hasn't had the chance. It's starting to really get hot down here and everyone keeps telling us this is nothing yet. It has been about 95 all week. Tonight Mike's car was reading a 100 inside. EWWWW!!!! Dad will be stoping by again for the third time this Sunday. I cant believe ho much we have already seen him since we have been here. Very nice that we get to see one familiar face once in awhile. Wish all of you could stop in gradually like that. Ocasionally I have missed home but not to bad thankfully. I have been just trying not to think about that otherwise I know it will bother me so we have to stay positive there. Well I'll keep you posted and hopefully have more interesting things to post after this weekend. Night y'all!!

Laura's Wedding Pictures

So who knew it could be so hard to edit wedding photographs? Not me. I feel like I have been working on these pictures forever now and have gotten no where. I took about 350 pictures at Laura's wedding and it is
taking forever to go through them all and make sure they are just the way I want them. On top of the fact that I get so into trying to do fun things to them in photoshop and that it takes forever to get past one picture. So I know a lot of you have wanted to see what I have done and while its not a lot I thought I would put up a few. My goal is tomorrow to sit and really focus on working on them because I really want to be able to send them to here and for her to actually like them. Well its not much but it's a start. I just wish now looking back that I had spoke up and asked to take a couple certain poses that I would have liked to do. But oh well the next wedding I'm at I'll just have to learn to speak up. Thats all for now. Off to bed so I can have a fresh start tomorrow working on them.

Trip to the Park and Mike's 23rd Birthday

Hello Everyone! I thought I would just give a little update on what Mike and I have been up to this last week. On Saturday June 6th we went to Spring Lake Park across the street from us. It is where the local baseball team The Gunslingers play. They have a pond that is filled with ducks and geese( at least that's what I think they were). It was crazy these birds would just let you go right up to them. I have never seen anything like it. It was really a cute plays that I wish was taken care of a little better. I definitely want to go back and take pictures with my good camera sometime. Then on Sunday June 7th Mike celebrated his 23rd birthday. Unfortunately we didn't do anything very exciting. I did make him a cake however. Not the best looking cake but it tasted okay. Monday came and it was time for Mike to go back to work. I spent the week picking things up around the house as well as trying to work on Laura's Wedding pictures. I never thought it would take me this long to go through and sort them out. Hopefully this week I will be able to get them finished so I can send them to her. Wednesday night we experienced our first big storm since we have been here and I am not going to lie I was scared.(Big shocker huh?) Nothing to bad thank god just really loud thunder and a lot of rain and CRAZY lightning. The lightning count at one point was 609 strikes. Nothing like the lightning we get back in Syracuse. This weekend we went out and bought a few more things to decorate our apartment with like some stools for the dinning room a plant for the porch, a vase for the living room and a picture for the bathroom. I will put new pictures of the inside up when I get it closer to the way I want it. This week I plan to finish Laura's pictures and start some serious job searching. Well that's all for now I guess. Off to bed so I can get up and get to work on some of those things. Night y'all!
